Best practices
- Use descriptive filenames - Name your images clearly (for example, "figure-1-results-chart.png" instead of "IMG_4532.png") so collaborators can identify them easily.
- Optimize file size - Large images slow down the editor. Resize images to a reasonable resolution before uploading.
- Add figure captions - Type a caption below each image using italic text to follow academic conventions (for example, "Figure 1. Mean response times across experimental conditions.").
- Number your figures - Follow your target journal's figure numbering conventions.
Next steps
- Apply manuscript guidelines to ensure your formatting meets journal requirements.
- Continue writing with the rich text editor.
