Manuscript Images

Add figures, diagrams, charts, and other images to your manuscripts. Images are uploaded and inserted directly from the editor toolbar.

#Uploading and inserting images

1. Open your manuscript in the editor.
2. Place your cursor where you want the image to appear.
3. Click the Image button in the toolbar.
4. Select an image file from your computer.
5. The image is uploaded and inserted at your cursor position.

#Supported formats and limits

• Formats: PNG, JPEG, GIF, and WebP.
• Maximum file size: 5 MB per image.
• Maximum dimensions: 8000 x 8000 pixels.

#Removing images from content

To remove an image from your manuscript content, click on it and press Delete or Backspace.

#Best practices

• Use descriptive filenames - Name your images clearly (for example, "figure-1-results-chart.png" instead of "IMG_4532.png") so collaborators can identify them easily.
• Optimize file size - Large images slow down the editor. Resize images to a reasonable resolution before uploading.
• Add figure captions - Type a caption below each image using italic text to follow academic conventions (for example, "Figure 1. Mean response times across experimental conditions.").
• Number your figures - Follow your target journal's figure numbering conventions.
