What changes when your key is active

Choose a single provider and it powers all your AI: chat, research tools, and the writing assists in the editor. Switch providers whenever you like; only one is active at once.
Your message limits stop applying
When your own key is active, the daily message caps on your plan no longer apply. You are billed by your provider for your own usage, not by us.
Embeddings and originality stay shared
Search indexing (embeddings) and the originality check always run on Alfred Scholar's shared engine, so those features work the same whether or not your own key is connected.
Owner controlled, per workspace
Only the workspace owner can add or change the key, and it applies to that workspace. Available on paid plans and during the trial.
