Searching beyond your library used to return a short list, in an order that rarely put the paper everyone cites near the top. Now and then a source simply did not answer.

## What's new

- **More of the literature, one search** - results span more than 300 million published works, including arXiv preprints, PubMed and every DOI registered with Crossref.
- **The papers that matter first** - results are ordered by how closely they match and how often the field cites them, so a landmark paper is not buried under a dozen near misses.
- **Straight to the source** - each result links to its PubMed record or arXiv page when it has one, and offers a Google Scholar search for its title, so you can check it where you already work.
- **Open PDFs, saved in one step** - arXiv copies are offered first, and any open-access PDF saves straight into your library.
- **Alfred searches the same shelf** - ask Alfred for papers you do not have yet and he draws on the same results.

## Also fixed

A brief hiccup at one source could mark it unavailable for that search for several minutes. Search now tries again on the very next request.

## Also changed

Indian theses from Shodhganga are paused while its servers are unreliable. They will return when it can answer consistently.

## Why this matters

One search should tell you what exists and what to read first. When the order reflects the field, the first page is usually the reading list.
